A growing number of U.S. medical colleges are introducing medical cannabis classes to their curriculum, according to data published in the journal Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning.

University of Pittsburgh researchers contacted 140 U.S. colleges of pharmacy inquiring about whether they embrace medical cannabis in their curriculum, NORML reports. Among survey respondents, 62% reported having medical cannabis training, while 23% stated that they intended to incorporate it within the next 12 months.

This survey data provides the first insights into U.S. colleges of pharmacy that are including medical cannabis in their curriculum.

According to data from 2015, pharmacist students revealed that 90% of them favored the inclusion of medical cannabis into their curriculum.
