Medical Marijuana Legalized for Certain Minors in Connecticut

CT Marijuana Kids

A new state law, H.B. 5450, allows Connecticut minors to use medical marijuana to treat specific health conditions, such as cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis and epilepsy. The original law restricted minor inclusion to the medical marijuana program.

Connecticut caretakers (those over the age of 18 qualifying as a caregiver to a minor medical marijuana patient) also have the responsibility of purchasing medical marijuana from licensed dispensaries for minors, reports Yale Daily News. The law also requires that caretakers or nurses administer medical marijuana to the minors.

Connecticut’s House voted 129 to 13 and the Senate voted 23 to 11 in favor of H.B. 5450.
