Recreational Marijuana Legalization Is on Connecticut Legislature’s Agenda

Recreational marijuana is a hot topic in state legislatures, and Connecticut is adding it to their 2017 agenda. State Senate President Martin Looney submitted a recreational marijuana bill prior to having a surgical procedure.

Governor Malloy disagrees that recreational marijuana should be discussed in a legislative session, according to Patch. But a recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that 63-percent of Connecticut voters support legal recreational marijuana for personal use.

Dates to discuss the proposed recreational marijuana bill have not been announced. The discussions are not expected to be scheduled until Senate President Looney returns from medical leave. Governor Malloy would rather the decision on legal recreational marijuana be done through a different process.  Regardless, the bill is expected to receive a full, proper hearing.
