Connecticut Senator’s Public Meeting Discusses Legalizing Marijuana

CT MMJ

A public meeting was held Monday evening to discuss the pros and cons of marijuana legalization in Connecticut. Senator Ed Gomes hosted the meeting at the Housatonic Community College. Residents and lawmakers attended.

Those advocating for recreational marijuana say that legalization allows for effective regulation by lawmakers, according to Connecticut 12 News. They also support legalization for the potential revenue that the industry’s sales and tax payments can bring to the state. The opposition continues to argue that legalization makes marijuana more accessible to teens.

A decision on the House Bill seeking to legalize recreational marijuana is expected on March 29. The decision will come from the Public Health Committee. A decision, from the judiciary committee, regarding the current senate bill to legalize recreational marijuana is expected on April 7.
