Westport Commission to Discuss Opening Marijuana Dispensaries

CT Cannabis Dispensary

Westport officials want to know what the public thinks about medical marijuana dispensaries inside town limits. The Planning and Zoning Commission’s public hearing is scheduled for May 18. The submitted proposal includes parameters requiring 1,000 feet between a dispensary and schools, parks, churches, daycare centers and public buildings.

The dispensaries would be required to follow the rules and regulations for operations and licensing created by Connecticut, according to Westport Patch. The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. at the Westport Town Hall auditorium. Those interested in reading the proposed amendment can view a copy at the Planning and Zoning Committee Office or Town Clerk’s office.

Written comments can be submitted before the hearing takes place. Comments will not be accepted after the close of the hearing. Those interested in supporting or opposing the amendment are encouraged to make their voices heard.
